The arrest took place on Wednesday and it has been reported that the man, who worked in the vicinity of Płock, central Poland, was caught red-handed in the act of receiving a bribe.

The man was apprehended by members of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA).

''I can confirm that CBA agents detained an Internal Security Agency officer yesterday,'' CBA spokesman Jacek Dobrzyński told TVN.

The case is being handled by Appellate Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw, and it has been reported that the officer was caught receiving costly electronic gadgets.

''The case concerns suspicion of corruption, and that's all that I can disclose,'' commented Deputy Prosecutor Waldemar Tyl. (nh)
