18-year-old Zuzanna M. (full name withheld under Polish privacy laws) and boyfriend Kamil N. were arrested on the run in Kraków in mid-December in a case that shocked Poland.

It has been reported that Kamil N.'s parents objected to the relationship between the two high school pupils in Biała Podlaska, eastern Poland.

The victims were stabbed to death in the early hours of 13 December while they slept in their beds at home in Rakowiska, eastern Poland.

The pair fled to Kraków, with Zuzanna M. declaring on her Facebook profile that she was visiting the city to promote her poetry.

However, according to police, the pair confessed straight away to the double murder when apprehended.

The results of Kamil N.'s psychiatric evaluation have not been released yet, as the observation period lasted longer in his case.

Zuzanna M. could serve a life sentence for the crime. (nh)
