Speaker Sikorski urges Poles to vote

“As parliamentary speaker […] I would like to appeal to everyone to take part in the second round of elections,” Sikorski said, adding that “I would ask everyone who didn’t vote in the first round – for whatever reason – to vote in the second round to choose a good president for Poland”.

Speaking ahead of a parliamentary session on Wednesday morning, Sikorski said that the elections “are one of the most important decisions to be made this year”.

The move comes after voter turnout amounted to under 50 percent in last Sunday’s elections. The second round is billed for Sunday 24 May. (jb)
