The government programme, labelled “Safety+”, was initially put forward Ministry of National Education.

The programme envisages that the state coffers will stump up the same amount for every budgeted złoty by local councils. The programme is set to last for three years.

However, demand has exceeded expectations, with some 5,000 schools asking for the CCTV cameras to be installed at their facilities.

The “Safety+” programme, which has a total budget of PLN 90 million, also envisages other activities, such as workshops for teachers on how to respond to crisis situations, as well as social cooperative activities with NGOs. (jb)
