PKW: Voter turnout 40.51% at 5pm

The State Electoral Commission (PKW) has announced that at 5pm, voter turnout in Sunday’s second round of the presidential elections stood at 40.51 percent.

During its afternoon press conference, the PKW informed that 12,194,358 ballots had been issued for the vote.
As many as 30.5 million Poles are entitled to vote in the election between President Bronisław Komorowski and conservative opposition candidate Andrzej Duda.
In the first round of the elections on 10 May, turnout at 5pm stood at 34.41 percent, with overall turnout at 48.96 percent.
The highest turnout was recorded in the Ustronie Morskie municipality with 63.13 percent, while the lowest was recorded in the Masurian municipality of Grunwald with 25.53 percent.
In Warsaw, turnout at 5pm stood at 47.21 percent.
Polls are expected to close at 9pm, with the PKW reporting no incidents which would cause polling stations to be open longer than orginally billed. (jb)
