The two boys are believed to have met the man by chance next to the Warta river in the city on the night of 23 and 24 May.

After reportedly drinking heavily, the two boys are accused of stabbing the man repeatedly before throwing his body into the river at around 11pm.

Gazeta Wyborcza reports that 15-year old 'Łukasz', a martial arts student, after a conversation “about life” became violent towards the older man.

"There are no obvious motives for this crime”, Joanna Lazar, a spokesperson for the Częstochowa police told tvp.info.

The documentless body was found in a heavily deteriorated state by kayakers further downriver on Corpus Christi, on 4 June.

The two boys were apprehended by police with the dead man’s documents on them while attempting a burglary in the city two days after the murder.

The local family court has ruled that the 14 year old should be held for three months in a shelter for the under-age and should not face a criminal trial.

The older of the two boys will be 16 in June and the local prosecutor is reportedly considering sending him for criminal trial. (jh)
