Only 14 per cent of Poles support the idea of granting them permanent residence status.

According to a survey by the CBOS Institute to mark the annual World Day of Refugees, 15 percent of Poles are against accepting refugees.

Poles display a far more positive attitude to Ukrainians from the territories seized by the pro-Russian separatists than to the refugees from the Middle East and Africa.

As regards the immigrants arriving in southern Europe from Africa, one in every three Poles think that Poland should participate in the European Union programme of granting asylum to these people, but as many as 53 per cent of Poles are against it. (mk/rg)
