“It is the right of every soldier to have a good leader. Good leadership is also about taking responsibility for decisions,” said President Komorowski during a ceremony on Wednesday.

Różański will be replacing gen. pil. Lech Majewski for the position of General Commander of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. Majewski has resigned from the position after turning 63 and went on compulsory retirement. He had filled the position since 1 January 2014.

The 53-year-old General Różański is the cofounder of the Commander General’s office. In 2013, he served as the plenipotentiary for the implementation of the new system of management, control and command of the armed forces.

Previously, he had commanded the 11th Lubuska Armoured Cavalry Division in Żagań and the 17th Mechanised Brigade in Międzyrzecze, as well as headed a militant group in the mission to Iraq. (rg)
