According to dentists, this effect is due to the absence of a major policy in the field of dentistry in Poland.

The secretary of the Dental Commission (NRL), Małgorzata Lindorf said that untreated teeth, bleeding gums, tartar and lack of dental work may cause, exacerbate or complicate the management of systemic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and gastrointestinal disease.

NRL noted that the problem will continue to grow, because Polish society is aging.

Data by the Central Statistical Agency (GUS) shows that currently 7.3 million of Poles are senior citizens (over 65 years for men and over 60 for women). This number is 20 percent of the population.

By 2030, the number of people in this age group is expected to rise to 33 percent. (rg)
