A recent opinion poll placed conservative opposition party Law and Justice in the lead with 36 percent, Prime Minister Kopacz's Civic Platform second at 29 percent, and newcomer Paweł Kukiz's fledgling grouping third at 11 percent.

There is a danger that Law and Justice will rule [in coalition] with Paweł Kukiz's grouping,” she said at a press conference in Łódź.

Our opponents are europhobes,” she added,” claiming that they “want to dictate to Poles how they should live.”

Her comments came shortly after leader of Law and Justice Jarosław Kaczyński declared that Poland has “no moral teaching other than that which the Church proclaims.”

Law and Justice, together with the Church, had vigorously opposed a new bill regulating state funding for IVF. The bill was narrowly passed by the Senate last week.

Kopacz stressed that the current coalition on Civic Platform and the Polish People's Party is “is moderate, pro-European and sensible.” (nh)
