A 29-year-old man who was detained with PLN 1.3 million of drugs in his flat could be released on bail.

Michał J. (full name withheld under Polish privacy laws) is alleged to be a major dealer of designer drugs which have inundated the market in recent weeks.

The prosecutor charged Michał J. with participating in trading a significant amount of drugs - mostly designer drugs.

He was also charged with the sale of ecstasy drugs to an adult individual.

Michał J. pleaded guilty to the alleged crime. The prosecutor asked the court for a temporary arrest of man.

However, he could be granted bail of PLN 50,000 and walk free.

Over 16 kg of designer drugs, 400 grams of marijuana and almost 240 ecstasy tablets were found in the man’s flat in Lublin, eastern Poland.

Michał J. had apparently been trading the drugs online since May and had made at least 700 shipments.

Almost 350 people were hospitalised in recent weeks after using designer drugs in southern Poland. One person has died. (rg/rk)
