“The government and the president should be on the same team,” Kopacz, of the ruling Civic Platform (PO) party, told reporters.

Speaking at Warka, central Poland, Kopacz appealed to the president to convene the Cabinet Council and engage with the government.

"It is sad that (the president) sees no need to meet with the incumbent government, especially now, when - as you can see – we are facing very difficult decisions, and also decisions that could prove costly," the PM said. "It is unfortunate that the president does not want to meet with the acting prime minister and the government, but it is the choice of the president, and I'm all for that. On the other hand, I can only express my regret," she added.

New president, Andrzej Duda, told journalists on his return from Estonia on Sunday evening that he had "no problem to meet PM Kopacz." (jh/rk)
