Soldiers hospitalised in Poland after tank catches fire

Four soldiers have been treated in hospital after the tank they were in caught fire during training in the south-west of Poland.

The Leopard 2A4 tank was taking part in training manoeuvres at the military grounds in Świętoszów in south-western Poland.

Paramedics were on hand to give immediate assistance to the four-strong crew, who were later transported to hospital.

An investigative team is looking into the reasons behind the accident.

The tank was one of the 120 machines operated by the 10th Armoured Cavalry Brigade. It has been in operation since 2002. (rg/rk)
