The management of the Kampinos National Park, where the 670-square-kilometer forest is located, had been receiving signals from tourists about the presence of wolves for two years now. They would, however, brush off these cases as indicative of migratory trends among young wolves merely passing through.

Images captured by one of hidden motion-activated cameras installed in the forest provided necessary evidence, as Adam Olszewski, researcher at the Kampinos National Park announced on Facebook earlier this week.

Detailed research is to determine the exact number of wolves inhabiting the forest, and establish whether a pack has formed.

The park’s researchers, meanwhile, assure that the animals’ presence is not dangerous to tourists visiting the forest. “Wolves avoid humans and therefore pose no threat to people,” Adam Olszewski stated on the park’s profile.
