The country's Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) issued a weather warning against strong winds.

The caution was set at the second on a three-point scale, and applies to the Pomorskie (northern Poland) and Zachodniopomorskie (northwest).

A first-degree warning has been issued for the rest of the country.

A state of emergency has been announced in the northern Polish port of Świnoujśie, which, meteorologists say, will be lashed by winds reaching up to nine on the Beaufort scale. This means strong gales, and winds of up to 46 km/h. (rg/rk)
