The patients will be treated at a public hospital in Lublin and at nearby Nałęczów spa. A deal was struck after negotiations lasting a year.

The patients will be supervised by Dr. Krzysztof Gawęda, who spent several years in Kuwait.

Because of the prayers they perform, “these are patients who are demanding in terms of the range of movement in the joints of their lower limbs,” Gawęda said.

Kuwait has a population of 4.1 million, most of them Muslims.

Local Poles will not experience longer queues for treatment following the arrival of the patients from Kuwait, medical officials said. (pk/rk)
