Fatal coach accident in central Poland

The driver of the Polski Bus coach – which operates low-cost connections around the country – was killed immediately and five passengers were trapped on the upper deck. None of the passengers were killed, but four were hospitalised.

Firefighters rushed to the scene to cut the five passengers out of the mangled vehicle, in an operation which involved at least two fire trucks and a medical helicopter.

Traffic on the A2 highway heading towards Poznań, western Poland was limited to one lane. (tf/rg)
