The first stop is the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, where the Polish head of state is to meet on Sunday with Poles who live in that country.

On Monday, Duda will be meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Rosen Plevneliev, who is to award the Polish president with the highest Bulgarian state distinction. The order is presented to foreigners for particular merit in fostering bilateral relations and international cooperation.

Duda will also be meeting with Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov.

Talks in Sofia are to cover three major issues: preparations for the NATO summit, Polish-Bulgarian military cooperation and common goals, and the crisis in Ukraine and security in the Black Sea region.

The Polish delegation will also focus on EU issues like energy security and diversification of energy supplies.

From Sofia, Duda will travel to Portugal. Before the July NATO summit he will also be meeting with the heads of state of Canada and Germany. (ab/rg)
