Emil Ś. (surname withheld under Polish privacy laws), allegedly called police at about 5.00 pm on Thursday, informing them that there was a bomb at the airport.

About 800 people were evacuated from the site, and planes were diverted. However, no suspicious materials were found.

The alleged culprit confessed three weeks ago to carrying out the same process twice on Tuesday 5 April, resulting in the evacuation of both Warsaw Chopin Airport and Warsaw Modlin Airport.

In a settlement, he agreed to serve two years in prison, but was still at large yesterday as the case has not been completed.

Prosecutors have indicated that this time, Emil Ś. may be held in custody for three months, amid concerns he might repeat the offence for a fourth time. (nh)
