Prime Minister Donald Tusk has been accused of making a sexist comment at a press conference yesterday, when he remarked on a female journalist’s minimalist attire due to the heatwave currently baking Poland.

With around-30 degrees temperatures in Warsaw, the heatwave certainly must have been on the mind of PM Tusk (pictured) at Tuesday’s press conference organised just a month before Poland takes over the rotating EU presidency.

The Polish prime minister made headlines for the wrong reasons when he responded with an unfortunate joke to a question from a Polish Radio female journalist, who asked if everything was organisationally “buttoned up” for the EU presidency, starting 1 July.

“I’m looking at the lady’s dress and buttoning up is not what comes to mind,” he said, adding “I like… summer”.

His words caused a barrage of critical comments, including comparisons to, the allegedly sexually predatory, US president Bill Clinton. (ek/pg)
