Duda would be backed by 60 percent of voters if the second round of elections were held again, up from the 51.55 percent he scored in the second round last year, according to a survey by pollster TNS Polska for the wSieci weekly.

Meanwhile, former President Bronisław Komorowski, who lost his bid for re-election last May with 48.45 percent of the vote, would now be backed by 40 percent, the poll found.

Duda was backed in the presidential elections by the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, which came to power in October last year.

Komorowski was the candidate of the centrist Civic Platform (PO), which is now in opposition after suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of PiS. (pk)
