New party strangled at birth?

With the resignation of Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska from the leadership of splinter group Poland Comes First recently, two more MPs have decided to quit the group citing allegations that the party is moving back towards the ideology of the group it split from, Law and Justice.

Jacek Tomczak is the latest MP to leave the party, following the lead of Jan Libicki on Thursday. Rumours point to them transferring to Civic Platform in the coming days.

Although ex-party leader Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska has not formally left the party, she is also expected to make a transfer to the ruling Civic Platform during the party’s congress on Saturday.

MEP Pawel Kowal has taken over Kluzik-Rostkowska’s duties, with Pawel Poncyljusz becoming head of the parliamentary club. (jb)
