No signs of terrorist threats in Poland: interior minister

There are no signs of an upcoming terrorist threat in Poland, Interior Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said on Wednesday, following an attack in Istanbul which killed 41 people.

“I have received no signals from agencies of a terrorist threat, but of course we are monitoring the situation,” Błaszczak told reporters.

“Security had already been enhanced at Polish airports, and this is not a consequence of the tragic events in Turkey,” he added.

Błaszczak said that in connection with the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw and World Youth Day in the south of the country border controls will be temporarily reintroduced in Poland on 4 July.

At least 41 people were killed and more than 239 others were wounded in three separate gun and bomb attacks outside and inside the terminal of Istanbul's Ataturk international airport on 28 June, media reported, quoting officials. (rg)
