Polish military police on Tuesday published an arrest warrant for a reserve officer suspected of offering to spy for a foreign intelligence service.

The wanted man has been named as 41-year-old Lieutenant Piotr Capała, formerly stationed at the 1st Air Transport Base in Warsaw.

The Prosecutor's Office and the military police did not respond when asked by Poland’s PAP news agency about details of what Capała was suspected of, or about which foreign intelligence service he was suspected of having links with.

Last year, Polish media reported that an air force officer suspected of spying had been unmasked.

Poland’s Gazeta Wyborcza daily reported that the suspect was a helicopter pilot who served in the 36th Special Air Transport Regiment, and then in the 1st Air Transport Base that replaced it - units responsible for transporting top VIPs.

Gazeta Wyborcza reported that the officer had passed military documents to the Russians. (pk)
