The tremor, 840 metres underground, caused two miners to be buried under rocks at the Bielszowice mine in Ruda Śląska on Thursday.
A 51-year-old worker died and several others were injured as a result of the tremor, which officials said measured around 2.5 on the Richter scale.
The death was the sixth fatal accident in Polish coal mines this year, and the ninth in the Polish mining industry.
All those who were injured were employees of an external company carrying out work at the mine, according to media reports.
