Fifty-eight percent of Poles are opposed to their country taking in any refugees, according to a new survey by pollster CBOS.

The study found that compared to a similar survey conducted in July, opposition to Poland taking in refugees has risen by three percentage points.

Thirty-eight percent of respondents said Poland should take in refugees from war-torn countries, with only four percent thinking they should be given permanent residency.

The ruling Law and Justice party has repeatedly said that Poland would oppose any European Commission proposals that would include a permanent relocation mechanism for all Member States.

Ever since Poland has come under diplomatic pressure for its response to the refugee crisis.

The survey by CBOS was carried out on August 17-25. (ał)
