Violent winds and storms have caused damage all over Poland, with the fire brigade called out almost a thousand times during the last 24 hours.

Fire brigade spokesman Paweł Frątczak said that the majority of call-outs involved work to remove hundreds of trees felled by storms and to secure damaged roofs.
He said firefighters were busiest in the northwestern Pomerania and Western Pomerania regions well as the central Mazovia region.
