A total of 23 people applied for the position, of whom 18 moved on to the second stage, the PAP news agency reported.

Four, including Kurski were eventually selected to the third stage, which included giving a presentation in parliament to members of the National Media Council (RMN).

The head of the council, Krzysztof Czabański, said that “Jacek Kurski presented a very interesting, dynamic programme” for the television station.

The council had dismissed Kurski in August after saying that it had lost faith in his leadership.

Kurski, a former MEP, was appointed as the head of TVP in January after the victory of the Law and Justice party in parliamentary elections towards the end of last year. (rg)
