Grzegorz Schetyna, the leader of Civic Platform (PO), Poland’s largest opposition party, on Thursday pledged to review the efforts of the government over the last year.

“We start on Sunday by summing up the health minister,” Schetyna said at a conference after the shadow cabinet’s first session.

Jacek Sasin, an MP for the governing Law and Justice (PiS) party which recently marked one year in office, said PO’s shadow government initiatives were “purely propaganda.”

Sasin said he hoped the new shadow cabinet would not only “destroy and criticise” but would engage in working on “serious projects put forward by the government”.

The shadow cabinet was announced on 17 November as Polish parliament summed up the year since PiS was elected to government in October last year. (vb/rg)
