Snowstorms hit Poland

Around 180,000 homes throughout Poland were left without electricity after snowstorms and fierce winds hit the country on Thursday and Friday, downing power lines.

Firefighters were called out 1,250 times between Thursday evening and Friday morning to deal with the aftermath of heavy snowfall, rain and strong winds.

There were no reports of anyone being seriously injured.

Weather forecasters predict that many parts of the country will continue to see strong winds and snow on Friday.
