“Thanks to your service, the Polish people can live in safety and work in peace,” Andrzej Duda said at a meeting with soldiers from an air force unit in Nowy Glinnik base in central Poland on Thursday.

“You stand guard over Poland’s security and … you also guard safety and peace in the world … as an armed force that is part of the North Atlantic Alliance, the world’s largest defence alliance,” the president told the soldiers from the Seventh Air Squadron.

Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz, who accompanied the president during the meeting, said that the past year has been a time of positive change for Poland’s armed forces under the country’s new authorities. (str/pk)
