Zbigniew Ziobro, who is also Poland’s Justice Minister, wants the Constitutional Tribunal to probe parliament’s approval of the selection of three judges in 2010, when the now-opposition Civic Platform (PO) party was in power.

Ziobro said that Tribunal sessions that include judges Stanisław Rymar, Piotr Tuleja and Marek Zubik "can be considered illegal," and their verdicts defective.

The appointment of judges to the Tribunal has been at the centre of a bitter political row in recent months in Poland, though members of the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party declared the dispute was over after the term of the previous Tribunal head, Andrzej Rzepliński, ended in December.
