A third of those polled said that Kaczyńśki won the standoff, resulting in the opposition parties on Thursday suspending the sit-in protest which had lasted since 16 December.

Meanwhile PiS managed to vote a controversial budget bill through the lower house and the Senate, before being signed by Polish President Andrzej Duda on Friday.

The poll was conducted by the private Radio Zet, and the public TVP broadcaster.

Opposition leaders Grzegorz Schetyna (Civic Platform, PO), and Paweł Kukiz (Kukiz’15) were next in the ranking with 11.4 percent and 7.9 percent respectively.
