Speaking to Polish Radio, Szydło said that the government is in the process of introducing a network of hospitals and liquidating the country's National Health Fund (NFZ).
Szydło is currently conducting a review of the various government departments, just over a year after taking office.
“The health minister is facing one of the most difficult reforms of our government, because a reform in healthcare … is associated with high hopes, because we all imagine that the changes in healthcare which are being proposed will cause these problems to disappear, [because] at the moment the system is functioning quite poorly.”
In recent months healthcare professionals have taken to the streets in protests, demanding better working conditions in Polish hospitals.
