Rivers in parts of central Poland may reach dangerously high levels, the country's Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMiGW) has warned.

According to the institute, ice has blocked parts of the Bug river in central Poland, and melting snow is forcing water levels to rise, to possibly dangerous levels on Sunday.

The potential danger also applies to the Pilica and Bzura rivers.

Warnings were earlier issued as a few other rivers in central of Poland also exceeded safe water levels. IMiGW said that the danger would continue "at least” until Sunday.

The institute has also warned about strong winds in Poland's north. (vb/pk)
