Ex-intelligence officer detained in corruption probe

A former member of Poland’s Office for State Protection intelligence agency has been detained by anticorruption investigators.
The suspect, named only as “Janusz W.” is a former head of the Office for State Protection in the southeastern city of Rzeszów.
He was detained by Poland’s Central Anticorruption Bureau (CBA) and charged by prosecutors with graft.
He is suspected of using his connections in state institutions and local government to help those who offered him bribes.
He was detained along with a former officer of the Central Anticorruption Bureau and of the Internal Security Agency (ABW).
