The ministry plans to ban adverts encouraging children to buy and eat sweets, sweetened drinks and salty snacks, the Gazeta Polska Codziennie daily reported.
Obesity in children and adolescents has reached epidemic proportions, the paper said, adding that over 20 percent of Polish youngsters are overweight.
"Research shows that more than 50 percent of children and young people in Poland eat in a way that is unsatisfactory or incorrect on a daily basis," the paper added.
