Poland’s Central Bureau of Police Investigation (CBŚP), working with Spanish officers, detained seven people from a gang suspected of smuggling hashish from Spain into Poland, as well as the production of illegal cigarettes.

Two illegal cigarettes factories were dismantled, one in Poland and the other in Spain, and 15.5 tonnes of tobacco were seized in total.

The IAR news agency reported that gangs who feel the police breathing down their necks in Poland have been moving their criminal activities to other EU countries.

Last year 26 illegal cigarette factories were dismantled in Poland and 540 suspects were detained, the agency added.
