Poles mostly optimistic about future: poll

Forty-three percent of Poles claim that issues in the country are headed in the right direction, a new poll has found.

According to a survey by the CBOS Institute, 40 percent of society look with pessimism into the future. Seventeen percent do not have any opinion on the matter.

In its comment, the Institute stresses that for the first time in seven years, the group of optimists is slightly larger than that of the pessimists.

According to 45 percent of Poles, the national economy is in a good shape. A total of13 percent of the respondents have a negative view on the economy, and as many as 36 percent are not able to define the country’s economic performance.

The political situation is generally seen in a more negative light, with 39 percent of those polled describing it as “bad” and only 22 percent as “good”.

The survey was carried out between the 1-8 June on a representative group of 1,020 adult persons. (mk/rg)
