Meanwhile, the opposition Civic Platform (PO) party, which was ousted from power in 2015 parliamentary elections, is in second place, with 22 percent, according to the survey, which was commissioned by the tabloid Super Express and private broadcaster Nowa TV.

The anti-establishment Kukiz’15 group is third on 12 percent, and the Nowoczesna (Modern) party is fourth on 11 percent.

The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), which is outside parliament, would also make it into the Sejm, the lower house of parliament, on 7 percent, followed by the rural-based Polish People's Party (PSL) with 5 percent, the poll found.

It was conducted on 16-17 August on a representative sample of 1,099 Polish adults. (str/pk)
