42 dead, 447 hurt in Polish road accidents over long Christmas weekend

Forty-two people were killed and 447 injured in 373 accidents on Polish roads during the long Christmas weekend, police have said.

Meanwhile, police say they stopped 883 drunk drivers during their Safe Christmas Weekend road safety campaign, which lasted from December 22 to 26.

During the same period last year, 53 people died in 318 accidents on Polish roads, Antoni Rzeczkowski from the country’s General Police Headquarters told Polish Radio's IAR news agency.
