President Duda named Polish politician of the year: poll

President Andrzej Duda has been named Polish politician of the year in a survey.

The study by pollster CBOS found that 13 percent of Poles thought Duda had done the most for the country in 2017.

In second place was former Prime Minister Beata Szydło, named by 11 percent in the poll, followed by the current Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, identified by 8 percent.

Jarosław Kaczyński, head of the ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, was named by 5 percent, while 3 percent listed former Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who is now president of the European Council, a key European Union leadership position.

No opposition politican was named by more than 1 percent of respondents, CBOS said.

In total, 50 percent of respondents said they could not or did not want to point to a figure who deserved the title.

And 23 percent said that no politician they knew of had done anything of note.

US President Donald Trump was named as international politician of the year, with 12 percent voicing admiration for him.
