Hypothermia deaths rise as cold snap hits Poland

Officials have appealed to the public to alert the authorities if they see homeless people sleeping outside as temperatures in Poland plunged well below zero.

Two people froze to death overnight Monday-Tuesday, bringing the death toll from hypothermia to 24 since November 1.
The mercury in parts of north-eastern Poland was expected to show minus 12 degrees Centigrade on Tuesday.
