The study by pollster CBOS found that backing for PiS has increased 3 percentage points compared to December.

Meanwhile, the opposition Civic Platform (PO) party, which was voted out of power in 2015 parliamentary elections, is in second place with 15 percent, down 3 percentage points, according to the survey.

The Nowoczesna (Modern) party is third on 6 percent, while the anti-establishment Kukiz’15 group is on 5 percent.

The poll found that no other parties would make it into the Sejm, the lower house.

In total, 71 percent of respondents said they would take part in parliamentary elections if the ballot had been held at the beginning of January.

The team that carried out the survey said a sweeping Cabinet reshuffle earlier this month had not had a major impact on which party Polish voters backed.

The poll was carried out on January 9-17, questioning 951 people.
