The survey by pollster IBRIS found that the opposition Civic Platform (PO) party, which led the previous government, was backed by 24.3 percent of respondents who said they would vote if parliamentary elections took place in April.

The Kukiz'15 grouping is in third place on 9.8 percent in the new survey, while the left-wing Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) is fourth on 9.2 percent. This last party is now outside parliament.

The rural-based Polish People’s Party (PSL) is fifth on 6.6 percent, according to the survey, which was commissioned by the onet.pl website.

Other parties would not exceed the 5 percent threshold needed to make it into the Polish parliament, according to the poll.

The survey was conducted on April 19 on a sample of 1,100 respondents using the computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method.

The conservative Law and Justice party swept to power in a landslide election win in late 2015.
