There were 192 accidents and 493 drink-drivers were stopped.
Police have urged drivers to keep their speed down, adding that stepped-up checks on roads would last until May 6.
With May 1 (Labour Day) and May 3 (Constitution Day) public holidays, many Polish families have decided to take the entire week off, encouraged by the prospect of warm weather.
