The ex-minister, named only as “Andrzej B”, faces up to five years in jail if found guilty. He was sports minister from 2013 to 2015.
Poland’s PAP news agency reported that, according to prosecutors, the former minister submitted six false asset declarations between 2011 and 2013.
The Civic Platform (PO) and its coalition partner the Polish People’s Party (PSL) governed Poland for eight years until the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party won a landslide parliamentary election victory in late 2015.
The Civic Platform is now Poland’s biggest opposition party.
