The referee suspended the premier-league match on Sunday in the 77th minute after a group of Lech Poznań supporters set off flares which caused thick smoke in the stadium, and invaded the pitch.

The fans were chased off by some 200 riot police. Football authorities awarded Legia a 3-0 win by default.

Police said all the detained suspects are men aged 18-37 who live in the Poznań region of western Poland and who were identified from security camera footage.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Sunday that he expected decisive action to be taken against football hooligans.

Poland’s deputy justice minister Patryk Jaki said law enforcers would show no tolerance for those who instigate unruly behaviour at football matches.
