Support for ruling Law and Justice inches down: poll

Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party is backed by 33.3 percent of voters, according to a poll. Support for the party has dropped 1.2 percentage points since a similar survey in April, pollster IBRIS said.

The opposition Civic Platform (PO) party, which led the previous government, is supported by 27.6 percent, according to the poll. The party has improved its ratings by 3.3 percentage points, the survey found.

The left-wing Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) is third on 9.9 percent support, the poll found. This party is now outside parliament.

The Polish People’s Party (PSL) is in fourth position with 5.3 percent, followed by the Kukiz ’15 grouping on 5.2 percent, according to the survey.

IBRIS found that the opposition Nowoczesna (Modern) grouping, with 4.1 percent support, would not enter parliament.

The survey was carried out on May 24-25 on a sample of 1,100 adults.
