"Soldiers from the military police sacrificed their lives for their country during the struggle for an independent Poland” and the years that followed, Duda said at a ceremony at a military police base in Mińsk Mazowiecki, east of Warsaw.

Poland marks Military Police Day on June 13 every year.

The country is marking the centenary of regaining independence on November 11, 1918, the day World War I ended, after 123 years of partition by Russia, Austria and Prussia.
